Forest Carbon Task Force Meeting

The forest carbon task force of the Oregon Global Warming Commission will meet Thursday, October 6, 2016 in Salem. The public meeting will be held from 1 – 4 pm in the Santiam Room at the Oregon Department of Forestry, 2600 State St.

A listen-only call-in line will be available for those who cannot attend the meeting. Please call 1-877-336-1831, then use the access code 872206.

At the meeting, the Forest Carbon Task Force plans to review the discussion from their last meeting, discuss baseline historical data on carbon content of Oregon forests, and discuss possible future changes in forest carbon conditions.

"These are provisional / draft estimates for the task force to use.  We are still working through some nuances on reversions and diversions, and site class changes (that throw acres in and out of timberland status based on different site tree results at different visits). As such, they are not final numbers and they have not been through any kind of external peer
review ­that is one motivation for publishing them in the literature, this is exactly what we are in the process of doing. THEN the numbers produced will be final. This data is being provided to the TF on an accelerated basis, which is why they are provisional/draft."
